When you join someone else’s rally or reinforce a garrison, one hero skill of yours can boost the whole group. Picking the right one is one of the cheapest power gains in the game.
TL;DR Put Jessie (or Jasser/Jeronimo) first when joining attacks, Patrick or Sergey first when reinforcing, and level that hero’s first expedition skill, not their stars.

📏The rules
When you join a rally, only the hero in your first march slot contributes, and only their first expedition skill. Your second and third heroes add nothing.
Only a few joiner skills apply per rally, and higher skill levels get priority. One guide puts the limit at four.
One guide claims joiner skills don’t apply at all; most guides and players disagree. Compare battle reports if you’re unsure.

One guide says Patrick’s skills also add attack; others list health only. Some later-generation heroes have defensive first skills too, so compare exact skills before replacing these two.
🎯Where it matters
Bear Hunt: join every rally with an attack joiner first. It’s the clearest win.
